The web disrupt suffered by the Spanish artistic heritage from the late nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth offers us a sad story: the story of a time when a poor and uneducated country made auction of his house, lidingö selling their goods at the best bidder. A story which brings together the dubious activities of sellers, brokers, pampering, concealers and buyers accumulated over centuries old cultural heritage. The result is a shocking catalog of artistic pieces, of various kinds, which were lost most of the times painful circumstances and are now scattered in collections around the world, mainly in America. William Randolph Hearst is the main protagonist of this story; Almighty businessman communication, sadly linked to the final page of our colonial history and inspiration for Orson Welles in his legendary film "Citizen Kane." Hearst was the largest buyer of Spanish art of his time, a compulsive buyer, through shady maneuvers, did not hesitate lidingö to violate all legal to satisfy his insatiable appetite as a collector obstacles. To do this, to hit book, featured cooperators in all walks of life, from modest operators, until most worthy intellectuals, clerics and politicians who, by their condition, most were forced to defend the artistic legacy. lidingö
